Do you do your child's homework? If so, you may be doing them a great disservice

Alex struggled to focus in class. He found writing a paragraph unaided a stretch, and, as his Year 8 English teacher, I had to explain simple things to him time and again. Yet when he handed in his homework assignments, they were strangely beautiful. How, I wondered, could this pupil who showed so little ability in the classroom turn around such polished pieces of prose on his own at home?
I didn't ponder this for long. So great was the disconnect between his classwork and homework, it soon became apparent what was going on: the main author of the homework was not Alex at all, but one of his parents. A recent study found parents in Britain spend less time helping with homework, school projects and extra study than those in almost any other country. According to the survey by the Varkey Foundation, an educational charity, which questioned more than 30,000 parents of children aged four to 18 in 29 countries, parents here devote only 3.6 hours per week to it, compared to nearly eight hours in Russia, 10 in Vietnam and more than 12 in India.
I learned this with some surprise because, in my experience of teaching English at an independent boys' secondary school in the south of England, excessive involvement in their children's homework is the guilty secret of many a parent. At parents' evenings, those you suspect of giving the biggest helping hand confirm your suspicions with their behaviour. They'll often be the parents who bombard you with questions about what we're studying and what is coming up; the intense ones who hang on to your every word, or else constantly butt in with queries. If I mention there's an area in which their child could improve, they'll want to know how they can deal with it immediately.

Internet Safety Advice for Parents

The thought of all the possible things your child could stumble upon online is nothing short of terrifying for a parent. In today’s day and age where information is so freely and easily accessible to all of us with the infiltration of smart devices in our everyday lives, internet safety becomes a very real concern. Some of the best Bangalore IGCSE schools in are even holding talks and internet safety sessions for students and parents to spread awareness regarding cyber safety.

Read further for our top tips to ensure a positive online experience for you and your child:

1) Discover together

When your child is getting started on his/her internet journey, be there to introduce and explain the internet to them. For both you and your child, it would be advantageous to discover and explore the internet together. Look for websites that are exciting and interesting to the both of you, so that you have a fun experience and develop a positive attitude towards the internet together.

2) Lay down ground rules

Talk with your child to agree on some basic internet safety rules.

Here are some to get the conversation started:

Discuss acceptable internet usage timings
Agree on how to treat disclosing personal information (name, age, address etc.)
Discuss etiquette of online communication and messaging
Agree on the type of sites and activities that are OK or not OK in the family
It is good to have an open and non-judgmental conversation about this with your kids, by the rules. abiding but remember that modeling all these rules for them will be the most impactful way to get them to

3) Teach your child how to treat information they find online

Most children use the internet to research and learn for schoolwork and personal interests. Howev children should be made aware that not all information found online is correct. Your child will benefit from checking for information credibility by comparing it to alternative sources on the same topic.

4) Refrain from being too critical towards your child’s exploration of the net

Children may come across adult material by accident on the web. Sometimes, your child may intentionally search for such websites; in such cases it is crucial to be sensitive and remember it is only natural for children to be curious about material that is off-limits. Try to use such situations as an opening to discuss the content with them, and reinforce rules for this kind of activity.

Apart from what you teach them about internet safety and decorum at home, what children learn at school about the internet and the way to use this resource also matters. The teaching staff at most top international schools in Bangalore are well-versed with such rules and are careful to keep in check internet activity of kids at school.

THE ROADMAP TO PURSUE MEDICAL PG IN GERMANY

Post graduation courses after MBBS is always a point of worry for Indian doctors. On looking for alternative solutions, they literally have to decide to pursue Medical PG abroad. And at their age, probably, settle down abroad as a MD / MS! One of such destinations where the Indian doctors prefer to pursue medical post graduation in Germany.

PG in Germany after MBBS in India is one of the best options among overseas medical PG options though it is quite complex. Post graduation after MBBS in Germany is pursued by many Indians who tried their best to crack AIPGMEE / NEET PG for 2-4 times and ultimately wished to move ahead by taking a bolder decision in the interest of their passion.

The program to become MD in Germany after MBBS in India is filled with quite a few challenges. First of all, you need to get in touch with the authentic, experienced and knowledgeable overseas education consultant who understands your needs well. The steps are well defined and it takes additional 2 years to study PG medicine in Germany though it ultimately gives an opportunity for PG in Germany.

GERMAN SYSTEM FOR MEDICAL PG IN GERMANY:
There are many medical universities in Germany which surprisingly teach the entire MBBS course completely free of tuition fees. However, the roadmap to medical PG in Germany is under the German medical council and the medical universities of Germany do not come into the picture. An entire roadmap right up to Post Graduate medicine is smooth if you have studied the bachelor level in a medical university in Germany. However, if you are going for MD level directly after MBBS in India, it throws challenges in terms of language learning and the clarity in the system. Accordingly, we always convey to the MBBS aspirants in India to choose a ranked medical university of Germany for a roadmap right up to PG level.

In order to pursue PG in medicine in Germany, the students opt for these options in 2 different ways.

GROUP COUNSELLING (SEMINARS):
MOKSH is going to hold seminars in different parts of India and shall come to your city anytime, DO NOT MISS this golden opportunity to interact with our expert counsellors and get the right advice on your medical career! Click here to register for the seminar!

Also, it is highly advisable to attend one of our Online Counselling sessions on MBBS abroad till PG before attending the seminar as you would have your basics clear since the start! Click here to attend an online counselling session!

PREFERRED ROADMAP FOR MEDICAL PG IN GERMANY:
The doctor would need minimum 6 -8 months prior to the departure to Germany. During this period, generally, the doctors clear A1 and A2 level of the German language. MOKSH provides Free German Language Online classes for its registered students, due to the requirements being:

Learn German Online for A1 and A2 levels for Free (for MOKSH registered students Only).
Get the admission letter from a government approved test and language learning center for TELC B2 and TELC C1 . Normal and standard B2 and C1 level would not be sufficient.
Study the German language up to C1 level in Germany.
Get the confirmed Observer-ship from a German hospital approved by the German Medical Council to pursue Medical PG in Germany. Initially, the observership would be for 1 month only. It would be extended for 6 months and then further if required.
Go through the “Approbation System” meaning registering yourself a German Medical Practitioner with German Medical licensing authorities. (MOKSH would support it through our German office).

The students would have to manage the residency on their own immediately after the observer-ship and completion of the “Aprobation” application (Licensing) Since the student has completed 1 year of Masters program, the student is eligible for 18 months of work search permit officially. Our German office shall support you to get the required Residency but it cannot be guaranteed by us right from the beginning since it depends a lot on:

Language level proficiency achieved by you.
Letter of recommendations received by you during observer-ship.
You would have to pass the Kenntnisprüfung exam (Non competitive).

You must note that you need to open a Blocked account in your own name in a German Bank for an amount of EUR 8,640. This money would be utilized for your living cost for the first year in Germany.

The Visa issuance could be a problem for few people who are not well prepared. Accordingly, MOKSH has designed a more concrete roadmap for post graduation in medicine in Germany. The alternative route provides higher stability and guarantee of the whole program having and fixes every loose end. The costs go up by almost 15 Lacs in this care due to an additional Non-Clinical degree.

ALTERNATIVE ROADMAP FOR MEDICAL PG IN GERMANY:
Few advantages remain if you take an alternative roadmap for 1 year Masters degree in healthcare. instead of only going directly for TELC B2 and C1 level language program. (Taught in English language) During this period, doctors from India can learn the German language up to TELC C1 level while going through the Master level program (It is an upgraded course from MPH – Masters in Public Health since the financial and accounting part to run a hospital is also taught). This roadmap makes them strong contender as well as gives an opportunity for them to remain connected with many hospitals.

WORK SEARCH VISA FOR GERMANY:
On completion of 1 year Masters program, the Indian doctor can receive the work search permit (Visa extension) for 18 months. This is a standard immigration rule for those who complete the Masters level degree (MHM or MIB) achieved in Germany. The rule allows you to stay back in Germany for this period. MOKSH ensures that the “Approbation” application to issue a license by the German medical authorities is done successfully through its office in Germany. However, the student needs to ensure clearing of the language level as described above in order to pursue PG medicine in Germany.

Based on the recommendation letter received from the doctor while doing the observership and the personal interview at the hospital, the doctor could pursue his residency (Minimum 3 years – but depends on the specialization) in a German hospital. At the end of the residency, he is eligible for the Board certified MD degree by German medical council.

A standard cost of the 1 year Masters program (Non-Clinical) in Germany would be EUR 20,000 per year. Few lower graded private universities also provide options starting from EUR 13,000 per year. This cost apart from the living cost in Germany to the tune of EUR 8,000 would be extra. However, if you are confident, do not spend this extra money. Go for the observership directly once you reach a higher German language proficiency.

Our services include the support to apply you for Work Search Visa to the relevant department in Germany.

ONLINE COUNSELLING SESSION (WEBINARS):

AN IMPORTANT POINT:
You may create a PLAN B in case you are not able to get the residency leading to post graduation in Germany after MBBS. Immediately after the observership, the doctor can get a job in the hospital towards management work. You can continue the application for the clinical residency. This gives huge back-up for the doctor and ensures the immigration if required. Further, the cost during the first 2 years of the program is reimbursed in the next 1 to 2 years of residency. The net cost to received MD is ZERO!

COMPARISON OF MEDICAL PG IN GERMANY & MD IN USA:
There are few advantages of this program over doing Medical PG in USA:

To pursue medicine PG in Germany, there is no need to appear for the competitive entrance test like USMLE and if the doctor learns the language and passes the “TestDaf”, it is good enough to ensure Residency. The doctor needs to pass a test called “Kenntnisprüfung” which is a non-competitive for converting their temporary medical license to the permanent medical practice license. The doctors must understand that this exam offers an opportunity for only 3 attempts. In case you can not clear it, you would loose the chance to pursue MD in Germany.
Generally, an Indian doctor thinks of Medical PG abroad, the first choice would be USA. However, the competition to get the residency is much lower in comparison to USA via USMLE exam. Germany has a very stable population. The flow of international students is very low by comparing to USA due to the German language problem.
The doctor pursuing medical PG in Germany would be able to get the specialization of his choice. The options include Neuro / Cardio / Ortho / Radiology etc. While in USA, the international doctors are offered low-interest General medicine, Family medicine or internal medicine as options during residency.
The cost of doing the program in USA is almost 100% more than that of Germany.

Data Science Success All About the Models, Domino Says

Forget about being “data driven.” What you really want to be is “model driven,” according to the CEO of Domino Data Lab, which today unveiled its new vision for elevating the predictive model as the single most important asset driving success in data science organizations.

Nick Elprin co-founded Domino Data Lab with two colleagues, Chris Yang and Matthew Granade, at the height of the big data boom in 2013. With experience working as quants in the financial services industry, the founders were eager to build a platform that could help organizations build systems to leverage their data to gain a competitive edge, no matter the industry.

At first, Domino focused on lowering the barrier separating data scientists from utilizing parallel computational infrastructure. At some point, it started calling its product a “data science platform” that eased the development and deployment of predictive models that employ machine learning algorithms. Greasing the wheels for collaboration and ensuring the reproducibility of models among data scientists was the next big thing for Domino.

Somewhere along the way, the company’s leaders felt the message and the goals were missing the mark. They witnessed how companies in the wider world were not getting good returns on their data science investments, despite hiring expensive data scientists who could wield the latest algorithms on massive amounts of data collected.

So about a year ago, the leadership took a step back to think about what was going wrong. An answer began to emerge, and it revolved around models. “My assessment is they’re often missing the key observation of what makes data science so different and so powerful,” Elprin told Datanami. “Our view on that is a notion of the model as the core asset, the principle output of data science work.” It’s the treatment of models – not how data, software, or hardware are utilized – that differentiates the organizations that are the most successful at data science from the ones who are spinning their wheels, according to Elprin. The CEO cited a 2017 McKinsey survey that found only 20% of companies were making extensive use of models, but were experiencing profits 10% higher than those who don’t.

“What’s going to become clear over the next few years is being model-driven, as opposed to being data-driven, is going to become the new currency of competitive advantage,” he said. “Companies that are successful in getting value of data science treat models as a new type of business asset.”

With that insight in mind, Domino went back and looked for patterns in how its own customers were putting models to work. The company identified what works for data science and could become best practices, and patterns of behavior that ultimately led to failure.

A key insight emerged: the most successful companies treat models very differently than how they treat data and software. “The way that they build models, develop models, deploy models, manage and have governance around models, and the way they create technology infrastructure systems to support models —  those are very different than what they’ve done for past eras around setting up systems for data or setting up systems for software,” Elprin said.

That led Domino to identify three critical properties of models that make them distinct form other types of business assets.

First, the raw materials that data scientists use to create models are different from other business assets. “Models require computationally intensive algorithms and that’s why you see this growing need for elastic scalable compute, for specialized hardware like GPUs,” he said. “Those are things that software engineering teams don’t normally need, and also that data platform and data teams don’t really require.” Another critical raw material for model development is the open source ecosystem. “There are new tools, new packages, or updated packages coming out every day around, especially around Python and R,” Elprin said. “If a company is trying to compete and have the best most innovative models, they need ways to have data scientists have access to that very rapidly evolving ecosystem without stifling their flexibility.”

The second property that differentiates models from other types of software development is the process. “Models are inherently built in a research process, and a research process is experimental, emergent, and exploratory, and that’s very different from software and it’s very different from data ingest systems,” Elprin said.

A data science team developing models might try hundreds of ideas before finding one that works, and that’s just fine, but it does create different requirements. “Teams developing models need different capabilities to facilitate rapid experimentation and rapid exploration so they can drive breakthroughs,” Elprin said. “In software, it’s about de-risking and driving to clarity of requirements. In models, it’s about rapid experimentation, trying many ideas as fast as possible.”

The third critical property of models to keep in mind is how they behave. In software engineering, there is typically a specification that developers aim for, and tests that can confirm whether the spec has been met. There’s nothing of the sort when building predictive models.

“Models are probabilistic. They don’t have a correct answer. They just have better or worse answers when they’re alive in the real world,” Elprin said. “What that means is organizations need new ways for quality control, monitoring, governing, and reviewing models to ensure safety and expected behavior.”

When you add it all up, the requirements for succeeding with models point to the need for a dedicated discipline, Elprin said. The current product category that encompasses this idea – the data science platform – is insufficient for the emerging requirements around data science models. “Either how people define data science platform needs to change or I think people are going to talk about something much broader, like a model management platform,” he said.

Domino is talking about its new Model Management framework today at Rev, its annual conference that’s taking place this week in San Francisco. While the company hasn’t yet shipped any new bits that improve the management of models in its flagship data science platform, conference attendees will see demos of new functionality that’s coming down the pike, Elprin said. “We have a bunch of stuff that’s in development,” he said.

For now, Domino’s framework is mostly words and ideas, but over time it will be fleshed out with real capabilities that let organizations treat models as the critical business assets that Domino leaders believe they are. “The next era of winners in business are going to be companies that figure out how to be model driven, how to put models at the heart of their business,” Elprin said. “That’s what model management is all about.”

10 Exam Review Activities With Google Apps for Education

It’s that time of year, again. Reviews are being edited and reused from previous years, and a variety of activities are on the agenda to re-engage learners.

The conventional paper-based reviews haven't been enough for my content-hungry high school history students, so I turned to Google apps to figure out how to enhance the experience.

Here's my combination of review activities I've done over the years. If you have one to share, please let us know in the comments below. It doesn't have to be about Google apps – just good teaching and learning.

1. Docs: List, Group, Label

Far too often, learners try to simply memorize the meaning of a term or concept and stop there. If they took a few extra simple steps, they would deeper their knowledge and enhance their memory of the content.

List, Group, Label address this need by exercising the learner's ability to use the content list (or vocabulary) to draw connections between and among the terms, names, concepts, etc.

Open a Google Doc. Paste the list (or generate one) into the doc. Add a table with as many rows or columns you think may be necessary. Move the words into any row, focusing on the potential relationships among the words. Lastly, label the groupings. Add a row to organize headings if you need to.

I can't say enough about this activity for review, essay prep, and learning activities throughout the year. It's great for making thinking visible, organizing notes, and working with Google docs, learners can easily learn with their peers.

2. Slides: Make a Quiz

Who's almost always making the quizzes? The teacher, right? Why not have the students make a quiz. Why not share your slides with them (or a copy of the slides) and let them add a few quiz questions on the end.

The one who remembers the most is usually whoever does the teaching. When learners have to make quizzes that assess comprehension, they, too, have to comprehend the content to the extent that they know what something is and what it is not, as well as potential sources of confusion.

Insert links to the other slides in the answer choices. This post about hyperdocs includes a template to get started (end of post). Make sure you are signed into your Google account before making a copy. Once you are signed in, go to File and Make a Copy to edit it and maintain ownership of the file.

3. Forms: Quiz With Feedback

Since Google Forms was updated to include quiz functions, like self-grading, I've been most intrigued by the automatic feedback options. Users can receive feedback written by the quiz writer for correct and incorrect answers, including links to other resources that may support the feedback.

Identifying the gaps in knowledge is something that every good review can deliver. Forms with feedback automates the process so the conversation can focus more on bridging the gaps or eliminating them altogether.

At its core, the feedback feature supports the reason why we go to school in the first place – the learn. Too many review activities are focused on memorizing information to answer questions correctly. Effective feedback puts the onus of learning back on the student who can figure it out or ask a helpful question.

4. Drive: Connect Concepts With Images

This activity is one of my favorites and one that every class needs, regardless of age.

Place a set of images into a Google Drive folder, and open an image by double clicking it. This opens the previewer, which can be used as slideshow.

Tape concepts (or anything you want) to the three walls that are not being used to project the images. If your classroom has more than four walls, then that's just cool.

Organize students in the middle of the room, and ask them to walk to the concept that best relates to the image projected on the screen. This is a total body response, so it shows everyone the nature of the response without much guess work.

I take the time to ask the students a few questions. Why did you choose a concept? Was it easy? How confident were you about the choice? Was your decision impacted by anyone else? These kinds of questions are exactly what they need to be thinking while taking a test.

Most importantly, this is a moving activity. One of the things I've learned with 1:1 device classrooms is the need to move during instruction. For great teachers, and those who teach young children, this is probably obvious. To the content heavy secondary teachers like myself, many of us need reminders and new strategies that get kids on their feet.

5. Slides: Make a Jeopardy Game

Jeopardy is always a hit – it's one of the first interactive digital games I did with students. The difference, now, is that I'm using Google instead of Microsoft, which is almost perfect. I'll Explain.

The directions to make a template can be found here. The only problem is that the links that have already been visited do not change color. In a game like Jeopardy, is is important because the tempo of the game relies on players knowing what is available to choose. I've tried a Chrome extension that changes link colors. I've tried different scripts to make an add on for Google Slides. But I just don't have the knowledge of Java Script to write the function that will change the color of the visited links (or the background color for the text).

The fix, for now, is to print the topic board and give one to each player. This way, they can at least mark off the ones that have been already chosen. You could also make a topic board on a whiteboard and mark the options already chosen.

When I find a solution, or someone shares one with me, I will certainly update the how-to post linked above.

6. Sites (New): Complete Digital Review

I have a review page for every unit on my content sites. Each review page starts with an outline of the major topics and details students need to know to be successful on the test.

I didn't always do it this way. I used to make students do more of that work for themselves. Why the change? I've since made more process-based review activities.

Sure, the review pages have stuff like embedded Quizlet decks, but my favorite activity is matching trios. This activity requires students to match three terms to support a potential response to a problem. I encourage them to find a concept, event, and individual to form a trio because this combination will make it easier to answer the question (concept), support claims (event), and include some significance (the individual). For math and science, trios could include formula, problem, and data set.

7. Slides: Charades (sort of)

I use Google Slides simply to deliver three words at a time for charades. The student facing the screen provides verbal and nonverbal clues to help the student facing away from the screen guess the word.

Although this may seem like a very basic activity, both students are doing a lot of practice reinforcing the concepts that relate to the words chosen for the activity. As the students who can see the word works to figure out how to best describe the word without giving it away, the student who cannot see the word is scanning through all of their prior knowledge from the course to make a connection.

This kind of practice between prior knowledge and a given concept supports building comprehension, argument development, and just general fluency on the topics. Plus, it's just fun.

Try it. If you see what I see in my classroom, your students will be smiling, giggling, struggling, feeling rewarded, and being very active in their review process.

8. Images: Search for Slide Clippings

Google Images is one of the most untapped resources for Teacher notes subject-specific notes on Google or on the Internet. It contains clips from the online slide presentation social networks like Slideplayer or SlideShare. These platforms have tools within them that allow users to make Clips or images of a particular slide.
Since so many of these presentations online are used for classes in various subject areas, a lot of the clips are very helpful when it comes to summarizing the main ideas of a topic. They often have explanations of specific examples, too, which is exactly the kind of thing that students need when they're studying for tests.

Sometimes in the classroom I have my students find slides on Google Images that best explain a specific part of a topic or serve as a response to one of our essential questions. We then upload the slide the images to a shared Google drive folder to be displayed on the on the screen with the projector.

This sort of activity turns the students into contributors and also teaches them valuable study habits. Since they're contributors they are also more engaged because the content of the lesson is something that they've chosen – it wasn't prescribed by the teacher.

I really appreciate a more descriptive approach versus prescriptive approach to teaching especially for review because at the end of the day it's the students education, not mine. in other words if I'm confident that they can go out into the world and learn for themselves, then I've taught them how to learn, not how to be taught.

9. Keep: Reminders to Study

Most kids … let me rephrase that. Most people do not know when to study. We can easily forget that we need to study if we don't have that reminder, especially these days where so many things are competing for our attention.

Google Keep is not just about notes. It also allows users to set reminders on specific days and at specific times. This is crucial for study habits because students are more likely to study of they think about when they are most able to study and set a reminder for that particular day and time.
I've found that to level up your reminders, it's good to add a link to the material you need to study or to the document you need to complete. these reminders can be shared with other people who have Google accounts, and images can be added to them, which just makes them that much more useful in our highly visual image- and video-driven online experience.

Lastly, if your students are like me, then they might benefit from color coding their Google keep notes. It only takes a little bit of exploring among the tools on each note to find the color formatting options as well as other options such as being able to pin a note to the top of your Google Keep

10. YouTube: Playlists

We cannot underestimate the power of YouTube. Students often turn to YouTube first for answers to their own questions. Why wouldn't we want to work that into the study habits we design for them?

YouTube already has a lot of videos available on almost every topic a student may need to study, so the next step is to organize them. this sort of activity doesn't just provide a resource for the students. It provides a resource for the world and certainly other students studying the same topics.

Think about what that means in terms of the student's motivation to make this playlist. The audience is far greater than if they simply completed a review to perhaps turn in for a grade or to prepare for a test that only the teacher will read. Since the audience is expanded, the student engagement becomes more expanded, and the significance of the work they do certainly drives them to put more effort, often leading to better results.
Let's go deeper on this one. Just within this activity of making a playlist, there are some learning activities that could be done to scaffold making a good playlist. For example, playlist have a space for a description. The description summarizes the main ideas of the videos, which are two of the skills we definitely want are students to be practicing – finding main ideas and summarizing.

Students could also reorder the videos in the playlist based on importance to the topic. Order could be determined by chronological order, or perhaps the topic is about a step-by-step process and each video relates to a particular step in a sequence.

It may seem a bit simple, but the work students are doing when they make these playlists – when they make good ones – is exactly the kind of processing that we want them to be doing to increase comprehension of the material they're reviewing. With so many choices these days, being good at choosing is a valued skill.

5 eLearning Modules For Organisations

Training often takes a backseat in organizations as employees, as well as managers, tend to prioritize tasks and meetings over training programs. Nevertheless, every organization invests in some type of training. Training in organizations needs to address 2 different categories of employees—old and new. There are some training programs such as the new hire orientation and the onboarding, that are exclusively for new hires. Some, such as leadership training, are more applicable to senior employees, while other skill-based kinds of training are relevant to both new and old employees. Of course, skill-based training may again address different levels of learners, according to their skill.

Organizations that are looking for cost-effective, flexible and easily accessible forms of training have jumped on the eLearning bandwagon. If you are a professional involved in the Learning and Development needs of your organization, this article is for you. You need to be aware of the following eLearning modules that every organization needs:

1. New Hire Onboarding

Organizations that need new hires to quickly get familiar with their culture and processes cannot afford to skip the onboarding training. With a majority of the modern workforce comprising Millennials, the popularity of eLearning for employee onboarding is on the rise.

One of our clients wanted an eLearning module for new hire onboarding that could be used to deliver consistent and engaging training. The Instructional Design strategy of learning through exploration and discovery let new hires explore virtual buildings to learn more about different departments.

Whenever you design an eLearning module for new hires, remember that the ground rule is not to overwhelm learners with too much information.

2. Compliance Training

Compliance training is required to ensure that employees follow rules and regulations in the workplace. While new hires need to be introduced to the compliance laws, old employees need periodic reinforcement of the training. Now, why should an organization opt for compliance training as an eLearning module? This is because compliance as a subject can be quite boring when delivered through classroom training.

A course for an electronics manufacturing company that needed an eLearning course on data privacy was made interesting using gamification. A 2-D virtual environment of the office was created in the course, and learners had fun as they watched the scores go up with every correct answer. The course was also translated into 9 different languages.

Customized eLearning modules not only make compliance training engaging but also take care of information retention.

3. Products Αnd Services Training

Employees need to be aware of the products and services their company offers. This is especially important for sales staff who are at the front-end, interacting with customers on a regular basis. Imagine how embarrassing it would be if a sales team member is unable to answer customer queries.

One of the world’s largest manufacturer of precision instruments approached us to design an eLearning module for sales training. The sales reps were required ask the right questions to customers, and provide effective solutions. Classroom training has always been a popular approach to sales training. So, the User Interface of the eLearning course we designed resembled a classroom, and the course included the character of a mentor and a dialogue-based approach to take trainees through the course.

An eLearning module for sales training can be used to enhance knowledge, update sales skills, and improve the motivational levels of your sales team.

4. Software Training

Most organizations use software programs for various business applications. Needless to say, employees need to be trained on using specific software applications that simplify work and improve productivity.

eLearning modules for software training can let learners practice in a safe environment through Watch-Try-Do simulations. It also makes it easier to rollout role-based training where employees get a hands-on experience on the software according to their role.

5. Soft Skills Training

Soft skills are extremely important for any employee. While soft skills such as effective business communication and time management are best mastered through informal learning, how many employees actually take the effort to interact with or observe others and learn? Leadership is another skill that comes with experience and is best taught through classroom training. But, busy schedules leave very little time for training. It makes sense for organizations to invest in eLearning modules for soft skills training.

One of our clients, a global leader in cosmetic packaging wanted managers in the company to learn about leadership assessment to evaluate employees’ competencies. Our eLearning module delivered this information in an easy-to-understand, engaging format.

eLearning modules provide the much-required training reinforcement that is essential in soft skills training. You can choose from customized or off-the-shelf eLearning modules for soft skills training.

Unlike traditional training methods, where there is a chance of inconsistency creeping in, eLearning modules can offer training that is consistent and aligned with your business goals. Just get started on promoting eLearning in your company and relax, as you save on training dollars and watch employee engagement and productivity go up, with solutions that are just perfect to address your organization’s training needs.
